“Infermera Virtual”(IV) is a resource that empowers people, communities, and populations to maintain health and wellbeing.
The purpose of this app which translates as ‘Virtual Nurse’ is for users to find answers that can drive their ability to make decisions for a healthier lifestyle. That makes it both a tool for nurses and an excellent instrument in face-to-face care tasks.
First Accredited App:
The Barcelona Official College of Nursing (COIB) has been working on the app concept and development since 2005 and it was this year accredited as the first app to pass the AppSalud portal process run by the Catalan Government’s Health Ministry.
The stakeholders and creators of the portal content and mobile app are mainly nurses. Infermera Virtual was presented to the public at Healthio 2017, where it showcased its commitment to patient empowerment: the content is organized from a health promotion rather than illness approach.
